The Western Forest Complex (WEFCOM) is one of the last strongholds for Lar gibbons in Asia. However, poaching and habitat loss are major threats to this species in WEFCOM, as they are canopy dwellers, rarely setting foot on the forest floor. They are classified as Endangered by IUCN.
