Activities

      The workshop of Smart Patrol Development in National Parks under supervision of Protected Area Regional Office 16 (Chiang Mai) was held during July 14 – 18, 2016 at Doi Inthanon National Park. The workshop arranged by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and supported by Thai Forest Conservation Foundation. The aim of training is to gain more insight in SMART Program which was developed for Smart Patrol database management. There are 49 participants from 16 protected areas which are under supervision of Protected Area Regional Office 16 (Chiang Mai) and Protected Area Regional Office 11 (Phitsanulok) from the north of Thailand.

     WCS staff have carried out lessons focusing on patrol database management such as patrol data entry, data query from database, and patrol report creating etc. by using SMART program (Spatial Monitoring And Reporting Tool).

 SMART program manuals supported by WCS were given at the registration desk.

 A welcome speech given by Mr. Pornthep Charoensuebsakul, chief of Doi Inthanon National Park.

 Participants and instructors

 Dr. Anak Pattanavibool, a lecturer from Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University and Acting Director of WCS Thailand delivered a lecture about the importance of Smart Patrol within protected area.
