Law Enforcement within the Area
Overall Result
Patrol has been continually run in TYW; however, the current patrol system was introduced in the area in 2005. Additionally, the WCS Thailand program has provided training and equipment in order to enhance the patrol activity with information technology and to improve the patrol database for further analysis with site management and patrol planning in time for the next month.
TYW rangers have been trained to improve their skills (e.g., patrol techniques, discipline, weapon use, GPS use, digital camera use, compass use, etc.) annually. In addition, facilities for patrol operation such as a meeting room, field gear and food supplies were also provided by WCS.

Next target
The Smart Patrol System in TYW still requires intense strengthening patrol techniques, equipment use and, especially, intelligence gathering. This must be done in order to combat strong wildlife poaching inside the area as the number of offenders is still increasing and poachers cannot be arrested without obvious evidence. Furthermore, patrol database development is important and similar to TYE’s target as it will be able to be used to improve patrol activity and will lead to successful threat control and management.
