Nowadays, natural resources have been severely diminished. Furthermore, offenders start shooting to patrol rangers without fear of law punishment and they also were supported from gang.
Therefore, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Thailand Program and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation arranged a refresher training ‘SMART PATROL’ in Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary in January 4-8, 2016. With collaboration from the Border Patrol Police, 35 forest rangers (leader level) with experience from the previous fundamental course of Smart Patrol have been trained with high level techniques for effective patrolling in their responsible areas and to tackle with threats effectively and safely. In addition, Assistant Superintendents also participated in the training which will benefit the operation among chiefs and their men in the future because Assistant Superintendents have a profound understanding of operational procedures. Moreover, because of the difficult between the chiefs and their men, this training will greatly boost the rangers’ morale.
